Horizon Builders Co-owner Joe Bohm Discusses Small-Business
Health Care at the White House
CROFTON, MD (12/20/04) --- Joseph Bohm, a founder,
CEO and CFO of Horizon Builders, was recently invited to
the White House for a two day meeting on economic policy where
he participated in a panel discussion on the need for Small-Business
Health Plans.
During the panel discussion, led by Health and Human
Services Secretary Tommy Thompson, Bohm said that the health insurance
market lacks competition. Without choice in the marketplace, small-business
owners are left at the mercy of insurers.
"With no real competition, we have been relegated
to a health insurance twilight zone," said Bohm. "Health
insurers don’t compete for our business. Rates are set and
our choice is painfully clear – accept the rates or drop
the plan."
