Horizon Builders’ CEO Serves As Panelist In Dialogue On Surviving In A Tough Economy
CROFTON, MD – April 20, 2010 – Joseph Bohm, president and CEO of Horizon Builders, Inc., a Crofton, MD-based firm that specializes in the construction of architect-designed, custom residences in the mid-Atlantic region, recently served as a panelist in a discussion entitled “Revisions and Decisions: Finding the Upside of a Down Economy.”
The discussion included a panel of seasoned experts in the building field who discussed how they and their firms have adjusted to economic downturns, past and present. The event was hosted by the American Institute of Architects – Potomac Valley Chapter and was held at the Rockville Library in downtown Rockville, MD.
Bohm was selected among several industry leaders to participate as a panelist. Other panelists included Greg Wiedemann (Principal, Wiedemann Architects), Yolanda Cole (Principal, Hickok Cole Architects), and John Spears (President, Sustainable Design Group). The panel discussion was moderated by Paul Klee, Principal of Grimm + Parker Architects.
“The focus was on rules about surviving from survivors,” said Bohm. “It was a lively discussion with lots of audience participation and headed by a wonderful panel of true professionals. The dialogue was brutally realistic with a touch of optimism.”
The discussion consisted of more than 20 attendees, including several commercial and residential architects. “The panel included successful, talented architects and construction pros who were able to see the light throughout the downturn,” said Allen Neyman, of STOVALL SMITH NEYMAN and Associates, Architects in attendance. “Interestingly, they spoke about the downturn and their response to it, in the past tense. Either it’s easier to talk about the painful parts that way, or it’s over. Either way, the most important idea - try something different!”
