Meet Susan Sapiro, Business Development Manager

Susan Sapiro’s interest in building and architecture began at an early age with the influence of her Grandfather, a carpenter, and her Father, an electrician. Growing up being exposed to the construction industry provided opportunities for her to sharpen her problem solving skills, develop her thought process for building and, of course, the chance to use tools.

In 1991, Susan continued her studies beyond the Bachelors of Science degree in Architecture she received from Catholic University in Washington, DC and registered for courses in the university’s engineering department. Susan earned a Masters of Science in Engineering with a concentration in Construction Management.

After graduating in 1993, Susan landed a job with Diamond Group, an architectural/engineering firm located in Odessa, DE, where she was a quick study in learning how to orchestrate and manage multiple levels of detail involved in the planning and construction of large scale projects. Honing her drafting skills on institutional projects, mastering the CAD system and refining her knowledge of construction management processes gave her the depth of experience to take ideas on paper and oversee them built as a reality.

Recognizing her skills, talent and enthusiasm, Horizon Builders management team hired Susan as a Project Coordinator, where she went to work implementing Horizon’s unique Construction and Project Management Process in building architect-designed homes.

Although Susan joined the Horizon Builders team in 1994, her promotion with the company as Business Development Manager in 2008 has led her to get reacquainted with residential architects and the owners in which they design for.

In this new role, Sapiro will service existing Horizon clients and develop new business relationships with residential architects and interior designers throughout the mid-Atlantic region.

Her 15+ years of construction management experience—orchestrating schedules, managing details and fine-tuning Horizon’s close-out process—combined with her very personal style, will be instrumental in serving the needs of architects and designers. Commenting on her role at Horizon Builders, Sapiro adds: “In shifting to this new business development position, I look forward to getting reacquainted with the architects Horizon has had the great privilege to work with. My focus will be to continue dialogue with the architects who have a similar philosophy and with whom Horizon can hopefully build not only exquisite residences, but new partnerships,” states Sapiro.
